No Blog Today
I am doing my taxes.

I will be in a crabby mood. I will be gathering W-2's and bank and credit card statements and calculating what I spent and what it cost to do business, and dinkin' around in Excel and having no fun at all.

There will be a bit of creativity in the deduction department, however.

I will have to have utter silence and this will frustrate Dave who loves to play his stereo at rock concert levels.
I may not get dressed until it is all a big pile, ready to take to the accountant. O yeah, I have the real stuff done by a professional. But first I gotta find the receipts and the reason I had to have another laptop, all that printer ink, restaurant meals etc.
So carry on without me. I am sure to have nothing fun to say til this is all over.

My mother is a tax professional. She has been doing taxes for more than 30 years.I do appreciate her more this time of the year. When it gets down to the knitty gritty around this time, you can hear her crabbing about how all she wants to do is work on her quilts!!!!( I did NOT inherit the math/numbers/tax gene!)My sympathies!!

I don't touch em. I keep all my receipts in a box during the course of the year. Anything that comes in the mail that says "tax info" goes to Mike who puts it in a hanging folder labeled "Tax Stuff." In January, Mike does his inventory of farm equipment and I do mine of my business equipment as I buy it. In February it all goes in a big Tyvek envelope. It used to then go it the mail to the accountant in Chicago where it would sit and he would file at least 2 extensions. Now, I put it in my carry on, get on a plane to visit my dad in FLA and we take a day to drive to Coral Springs to visit our new accountant. My taxes are done but he's trying to find us more deductions....seems my Morgan Stanley guy did TOO good of a job with the stocks I inherited.....

    Good luck!
