Our Day of Rest?

We awoke to strong winds and lots of rain. The temperature dropped to like 50 degrees!

You mean we have to play indoors today? Good thing we had a plan in place for just such an occurance. Our new friend Pam Morris was coming over from Nokomis FL for a dyeing session. I was out to prove (Tom Sawyer anyone?) that it was easy to dye the Lazy Dyer way.

First we did gradations, two ways, which Tommy will review on her blog. Then I showed the gals my special edition techniques and then we had a great lunch (with wine!) and I lost interest in working anymore. Tommy put in the dvd Hustle and Flow and I couch-potatoed it while she made lots of gorgeous dyed fabric.

Once the movie (fantastic btw) was finished there was lots of dye and presoaked fabric left so I decided to help Tommy finish it all off with some experiments in color mixing.

First the warm yellows to mustards

to Friedas and turquoise-black mixes

then rusts, purples and magentas

The sun came out for a bit but was still very windy so our outdoor dyeing got moved inside to rest overnight.

I got up early for the washout. All the warms into one load. We'll see if that turq bunch influences the greens and yellows. I doubt it...


Today is starting off brilliant and we have scheduled a day in the studio to actually make something like, uh, a quilt!

Somebody mentioned that the Olympics are over...we were watching the triumphant win of Drew and Cheryl on Dancing with the Stars! We are so pleased. And followed then of course by Grey's Anatomy. Too great a day for words.
