A Likely Story

While on my way up to Wisconsin on Friday, a TJMaxx leaped out in front of me and I had to stop. My socks were bothering me, and I needed to buy a different pair.
What, your socks have never bothered you? Mine were too big, and were sliding around inside my loafers and making me nuts, or nuttier, you decide. And I always am on the lookout for bone china coffee mugs, so I had two good reasons for pulling into the parking lot.
I found some perfect knee high nylons, two for $1 so I got two packs, and then since I was close to the shoes I had a few try-ons and found nothing exciting. Just as I was about to check out, I passed the Clearance rack and found these delightful teal suede loafers, for $8!!! I am such a lucky shopper. In my suitcase is the sweater, turtleneck and slacks that perfectly match these new shoes. Tra la, tra la, tra la!

Saturday I did a morning lecture from my new laptop/projector and newly revised slides. I really took advantage of the large audience and hammed it up. I am sure the organizers were searching for the hook to get me off stage.

Afterwards, Sonji and I went into the city (Milwaukee) to see her group art exhibit and we are both morons because neither of us had our cameras with us. What kind of dopey bloggers are we? duh. Afterwards we had a nice lunch, both talking at once, at Panera, and then she did a quick tour of the town. I must say, there are some really kool areas I have never seen and are just so arty. I want to come back when it is above freezing...if that ever happens.

By the time my evening workshop began, my voice was starting to give out. When will I ever ever learn? I sang way too loud in the lecture and then never shut up all day. Did I mention being a moron?

I teach again at 8 am and I am blogging. I am so happy that blogger works again. So thank you 'engineers' who lost three of my posts and photo yesterday. I kept one and got it up today.

Must show the shoes!

  1. Of course you had to stop, TJ Maxx is manditory. Great shoes, but don't get them dirty before you can spray them with scotchguard. Sonji can be the tourguide at the retreat!!!Make a plan.Hint hint.

  2. I feel like a super moron, Melody. Mostly about the constant talking...I was exhausted when I got home, so I KNOW you had to be fatigued after that rousing lecture-song-and-dance-comedy routine you put on in the morning. You ARE a SUPERSTAR!!! I was so happy to spend alone time with you, even though the lunch bunch at the meeting probably want to slap me for whisking you away. Too bad for them. I'm selfish! Love you.

  4. Yesterday was odd with blogger. I could get the text of all your messages in BlogLInes, but could not get to your blog. It was the first real hint that blogger was broken again.

I also live in Illinois, but I hear from my son in law (who is in the food and wine business) that Milwaukee is all of a sudden just bursting with a bunch of cool young chefs opening restaurants downtown. I can especially recommend a place called Gino's downtown for Italian. ASk for the infused olive oil with your bread. Yum-oh!
