Forcing Spring

After being away in California, I came home to the full blooming Amaryllis that I got at Target right after Christmas. These were all supposedly white, so no one wanted them. $1.24 a bulb. Ha! Not a white one in the bunch.

This isn't really white is it?

On bulb had two stalks, so I hit the amaryllis jackpot. With eight blooms this one is a sure winner. Take that Martha!

My favorite decided not to waste time getting tall and just burst open to show off. I can relate.

To compare with the flowers I saw in CA, which were huge and fragrant...these were in a vase at the Hotel del Coronado, if I remember correctly.

My hostess has a lemon tree, so loaded with fruit that the limbs have sagged down to the ground. I meant to take home a big bag and boy do I need a cup of hot lemonade right about now.
So big and so REAL. Note the turquoise sky in the background. sigh.
I never really finished getting over my January cold, and then had to get on an airplane and then talk incessantly for six days, which brought me right down again. So I am sniveling again, and I plain just don't have time for this nonsense.
My first day back I had a mountain of things to attend to, including sewing sleeves on four quilts and packing up all 16 for my one person exhibit at the New Jersey Quilt Fest in March.
Then it is off to print up lots of patterns to replace the ones sold, and to mail off lots of promised stuff, including a photo cd which I had to shoot of several quilts for an article in QNM, on Color.
Then grocery/bank/post office/Office Max-ing, all in miserable 22 degree cold.
Stress and sniveling make for a crabby girl.
I was supposed to include a photo of myself for the magazine article, so I doctored up one in Paint on the computer. This is from early December and reminds me of how I look healthy.
