Beachcombing

We got out early, on a windy and cool morning and went down to the beach to collect shells. We had seen many wonderful shell collections on the house tour yesterday and decided that this would be our focus of the following morning. Tommy had never done this, so it was fun for us both.

At the water's edge the wind was calmed by the sea walls of the homes, so we were protected. Tommy was wearing the perfect shelling outfit and the dark northern sky above offered an empty threat. We owned the beach except for a few sea birds.

Shell litter

This dark sky dissolved away in no time, and the sun made the walking so warm and lovely.

My collected treasures, washed and arranged by type. I love this iridescent nacre.

Are you bored yet?

Our Fearless Leader Gordy, who went out fishing last night

and caught two good ones.

I wanted to take a picture of both but he said they looked just alike so why bother?
Apparently he is unaware of my tendency to shoot everything I see down here.
Now I have my clothes in the washer, my bathing suit on and I am going in for a dip. NO cameras please!

  4. Beaches are so different in different parts of the country. Maine was all rocks, you remember. I haven't yet checked out the TX beach --- it's a long way away. I'm so glad you're having a good visit.
