My Own Personal MeMe
Whenever I do a meme I always think of better answers later and then better questions too. I have never taken the time to do the essential-to-some 100 things about me, but I gotta get some of my faves off my chest this morning.
My new favorite fruit is the Asian Pear which I have seen and passed by in the store for years. Frieda introduced them to me and I just love them. Crisp and juicy and just the right amount of sweetness. They need to work on the color however, just a bit short of pigment if you ask me.
I forgot to mention The Godfather Trilogy as 'movies that I would watch over and over'. Yeah, like our favorite movies to watch over Christmas. Wierd but true. It's all about the family.
Favorite voice on the radio, Sarah Vowell on This American Life with David Rakoff a close second.
I love the song Can't Get Next to You by Al Green. I heard it first on Sex and The City in the episode where the girls go to the USO and meet the fleet. Carrie was dancing with a sailor played by Daniel Sunjata who is now on the show Rescue Me with Dennis Leary, who I also love. The show: eh.
This yummy actor is also a regular on Law and Order, as a forensics officer. Or a bad guy once too. Anyway he is my pick for best dimples but that picture was undownloadable, so I had to settle for this one, which wins for best lips.
My other favorite album, is Everything Happens to Me by Frank Sinatra. Just Great stuff, with excellent orchestrations and a wonderful mood.
I love Ralph Lauren jeans. The kind that come all the way up to the waist. What a concept. I cannot wait til midrift revealing fashions have left the building.
I miss Peter Jennings
and Jerry Orbach.
I was born on my mother's 20th birthday and was the first of four. Because she was so young and isolated, I became her confidant, cheerleader, and protector. I believed every word she said. As I matured I found out that much of what I was told and totally believed was untrue. It took years to discover my own reality.
Quilting saved my sanity. I have often suggested it as a solution to women who are chronic complainers about their lives. One gets so involved in quilting that the other annoyances seem insignificant.
And I love love love blogging. I love getting these things out of my head and onto the page. I love how it gets the myriad ideas floating around in there organized and settled. Something my life could use a shot of daily. It beats sedatives.
Now wait a minute there Mrs. Mel. There are people like made born without a waist at all.. who revel in no waistline jeans!! Please give us a chance to look good in comfortable pants!! I mean, even when I was skinny skinny (96#), my waist was only 5" smaller than my hips!! Whenever I find a pair or two (never find more) of jeans in my size I buy them, because I know they will disappear without warning way too quickly.
ReplyDeleteI have never understood chronic complainers. There is just so much to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteWe're all glad you love blogging, because we love reading. Jen
I love that little swatch of quilting. It just jumped off the screen at me. I am so glad that you love, love, love blogging. I know I can always stop by here most any day and get cheered up!!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you! I love reading your blog - so I am sooo glad you love doing it!! And belated Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteHow did you do that quilting? Thats really cool!! Do tell!!
I grow Asian pears. They are lovely semi-dwarf trees, with no disease problems and less insect problems than other fruit trees, in my experience. The tree-ripened fruit is unsurpassable. Most years we have more than we can eat, and give it away and let the wildlife have some. I can't recommend them enough!
ReplyDeleteDear Melody,
ReplyDeleteI miss Peter too.
So true about the cronic complainers :-0 I don't know if I was a complainer, but I was very unhappy and very bored until I snapped out of it and started quilting. I think finding a passion is a very healthy thing.
ReplyDeleteCheers
