It rained buckets yesterday

I am so glad it wasn't snow or we would have had six inches. The weather has really affected me in a most delightful way. I love being inside, dry, warm and cozy. I got so much done including making links to all the places I will be teaching and lecturing this year. They are now available in my sidebar and will soon go on my website for those who are not blog readers.
And I paid the bills.
This has been my job for all of our marriage, and yesterday I asked Dave if he wanted to help me with this task, thinking I could maybe eventually turn it over to him, (evil laff). He said he would help after his nap. O sure. The task was finished just as he awoke.
Even though the post office was closed yesterday I still had to go grocery shopping, so I popped the bills in the drive up box and did my shopping. The rain had stopped and I got in and out remaining dry.
We made dinner, cooking enough for three or four nights of meals, and then off to the bedroom to watch Jules et Jim on our new boudoir dvd player.
I think I stayed awake for maybe ten minutes. I am not blaming the film, it is just this time of year, where the pressure of the holidays is over, and we are safe and happy and warm. And caffeine free, which makes staying awake very difficult.

  1. OOOh, giving up caffeine! That's a tough one. You could sip coffee through a straw... A belated Happy Birthday, and Happy New Year!

When you are 67, you have certain priorities in life - they include wine and caffiene - in moderation, of course. The best to you in 2006 - can't wait to see what you accomplish.

  3. It was in the upper 60's here yesterday with tornadoes, but I managed to get in and back from Border's before it became scary.

Also, I checked for your 2006 dates and all I could find on your website was the 2005 dates.

Ok, I"m 'rattin' out Ms. Mel. Her laptop computer (to wit: I convinced her to buy) took yet another dump. Yes, this frustration made her move yet again, to wine. Ahh, the tender enjoyment of life. And a quick exit from the resolution theme. I cannot scold, I've been at the short end of several dead computers, albeit daily. 'Our' relationship recently, as gone from: "Come help! My puker is broke", to: "Lets just have some time together where [we're] not always in computer 'fix' mode. Alas, I feel a fix mode coming on soon.

Fret not my most genuine, loving and slender sis: (Can you HEAR me buying time?) I'll be on my white steed shortly, with not a hint of drudgery. The Dame Judy "Melody Johnson" Dench has recenlty accepted me, as a regular 'dude'.

  6. Mrs. Mel, I'm dying to find out when exactly you'll be in Europe. I need to set time (and money) aside for the workshop and make sure it doesn't conflict with family hols. Do you think you'll know soon when and where you'll be going?

    Anticipatingly yours,
