My Hero! Dwayne Remmers of Sewing Concepts, Carpentersville and Woodstock IL
It took Dwayne less than 30 seconds to diagnose and fix the problem with my machine!!
Drama Queen that I am, of course, I over reacted when I said I killed it. It is not dead, and was not even sick. As is so often the case, it was merely in need of a good screw.
Here is the story:
See those two little red triangular dots on the bobbin case? The tiny scissor tip is pointed at a small part that was a bit too misaligned with the case, and the Philips head screw next to the part is where Dwayne adjusted the part to perfection. I drove the machine at a million miles an hour in the store and it was PERFECT.Then I went to Laura's house and we, Frieda and Laura and I all looked at the screw and that little part and we all now know how to realign our parts in case they should ever go out of whack.
I am so totally relieved because I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS MACHINE (Janome 6500P) and was so upset that it had let me down, even for a moment. It has been a workhorse and as you know I don't use it for anything other than endurance tests and marathon quilting sessions.
I am ready to go back to work WITH COMPLETE CONFIDENCE, thanks to Dwayne, whose name I really hope I spelled correctly.
Whew! That is such good news! So are you going to fly out here to check mine and adjust the screw if I need it?

ReplyDeleteOk, I am blind. I am not seeing a Phillips head screwdriver in the picture. I really NEED to know which screw to turn should MY machine need adjusting.....Puleeze.....

Yay Dwayne! On a sort of related note, I always thought it would be fun to have an odometer on a sewing machine, particularly when free-motion quilting. Can you imagine the boasting that would go on? Funny.

I fixed my machine a couple days ago... still not sure what exactly was wrong with it, but I cleaned it out and put it back together and it worked again, so I guess it was just that full of little threads that pulled the needle to the side or something. It is not nearly as cool a machine as yours, but it's a start. And I don't make anything as cool as you do - just been sewing dice bags for the kids and gift bags this year as I was tired of wrapping paper. Most of my gifts were wrapped in gift bags or in small brocade pillow cases. Then the kids found out I could make cool bags for their dice and game books, so I've been making those for all their friends...

Melody, my janome 6600 has died l think like yours as put the duel feed foot that would not feed and thats whot its for and it kept stitching on top of first stitch, so changed back to the one that came with it and my needle is hitting metal if you use the up and down button it smashes the needles, have only used it 6 times and am on a deadline plus the nearest shop is two hours away, bit to much in a wh
