Knitted Christmas gifts

Last year I learned my lesson. I knitted Dave this sturdy wool helmet to wear to scrape the ice and snow off his huge truck (pre-sportscar). He was sure that if the kids that walk to school in front of our house saw him wearing this, they would stop and beat him up.

He wore it once. It has been even colder this year, but the truck is gone and the new car stays in the warm garage, so there is no real need to get beat up by school kids.

I knitted a similar helmet for Frieda, at her request and added the lovely bobbles (click) for decoration. The scarf was made for her by her sister. The bobbles are reminiscent of a Sesame Street muppet, and it wasn't long before she was advised to remove them by her son, as he was afraid someone would see her walking George and beat her up.

Is there a theme running through my knit-gifting?

This year Laura wanted a hat, one that wouldn't make her look dopey. You be the judge.

Actually this is my shawl, worn as a hat. Looks pretty good, imho.

Here's my pal Anne Lullie modeling another one of my shawls. I made a dozen or so, (who's counting?) and I sold her a nice black one weeks ago. I made these to sell at our art group PAQA and got too sick to attend, thus leaving me with oodles of 'premade' gifts... hmmm, where did I do wrong?

Emily feels this one is so her!

And while I was visiting Rose last week, she remarked that she loved the purple shawl I was wearing, and since I love her so much it became hers.

Could we be sisters or what?

So last night I noticed that there are still several days til Christmas and LOADS OF YARN just sitting there, and lots of wonderful people still unshawled out there in the world, so I had better get my needles warmed up.
