Part B: Laptop Dies

My brother diagnosed the trouble over the phone as a dead hard drive. I expected to hear this. This is bad.
All my pictures...
Files are easy to rewrite (she says) but some of these pictures are not replaceable.

However, here is problem that can be solved, if I am the lucky gal I usually am.
I have also lost emails that tell me who are my contact persons for my remaining workshops this year.
If those people could email me again I would print out the information and not feel so cut off.
Also Allyson from Great Britain ordered a tulip pattern and fabric ( I sent it off on the 8th of October)...if you could email me again, it would be so greatly appreciated. I have lost all your information.
Anyway I must pack for my trip to California today. So until Sunday night, I cannot blog again.
Adios my darlings.
Mel

  1. Hello Melody,

My condolences to your computer, but all may not be lost. There are computer firms out there that are ABLE to recover most if not all files off a damaged hard drive. Look up Hard Drive Recovery services online, there may be one in your area. Also many local computer shops may have service deparments that can do the work as well. This is an article that is really worth reading "Well, So Much for *That* Drive: The Story of Hard Drive Failure and Data Recovery" it explains much...

My good wishes for your computers speedy recovery ;)

  3. Damn. Sorry it turned out to actually be the hard drive. I've had that happen and I feel your pain. I hope you can find a way to recover some of the important stuff.

  4. Hi Melody,
I have an external hard drive that I use to back up all of my files on a regular basis. It hooks right to the usb port on my computer. They make 1 gigabyte thumb drives now that hold a lot of data they are only about 1X2" and just plug into your usb port to transfer data. I keep all of my work files on mine, and I LOVE it!

  5. Sorry to hear about the hard drive - I can associate and I can also tell you that the techies that fixed my computer managed to get all the drivel off my hard drive.

Hope you have loads of fun in California!

  6. I have lost two hard drives in the last year. (two different computers) I took them to CompUSA. They were able to recover the data from one but not the other. It's worth trying. They charge about $65 to recover a hard disk, which was the best price I found.
Good luck--I just HATE computer problems!

Shop at your favorite stores 24 hours a day. Why go to the mall when you can shop online and avoid the traffic
