I paid the bills. That's enough work for today

Obviously I am not working. This is my second post today. But Stitchy tagged me and now I am following through. O, this is pitiful.

To those who are into meme thingys, this will be a bitter disappointment verging on BORING and will reveal to all that I am a really old broad. I mean I am the age of your sainted old Muttha and will now have to come clean and answer these ‘trendy’ and ‘withit’ meme questions for the sake of being tagged by my idol Stitchy.

I’ll bet your mother is younger than me. REALLY.

I am enlarging the font, because those with mature eyesight will be grateful.

1. Total amount of music files on your computer?

If I happened to have left a music cd in the drive due to short term memory loss, that is the current amount of music on my computer, not counting cd’s piled up on all surfaces waiting to be returned to their zipper cases. Yes, I throw away jewel cases. Heck, mostly I return jewel cases containing cds to the library from whence they came. (note the correct use of whence.)

2. The last CD you bought was:

Hell Freezes Over, Bette Midler sings Rosemary Clooney ( no groaning please, I am not finished) Tony Bennet/k.d.Lang doing that Louis Armstrong tribute album. Geesh.
And I ordered them all from Half.com to make matters worse. I’m old and like bargains.

3. What is the song you last listened to before reading this message?

Diana Krall doing I’m just a lucky so and so. I just got all her stuff from the library and am soaking in it. This cut is a collection of stuff from Nat King Cole’s early days with his trio, when he was known as a piano player, not so much as a singer. um…she is young and married to Elvis Costello. And Canadian, as David Rakow would blurt.

4. Write down 5 songs you often listen to or that mean a lot to you:

Is this fair, I ask you? These people are mostly all dead. And not from overdoses.

Frank Sinatra: Angel Eyes, Everything Happens to Me, If I Had You, Put Your Dreams Away, Drinkin’ Again.
Dean Martin: Return to Me
(Not dead, just her career) Joni Mitchell: A Case of You, You’ve Changed, At Last
(Not dead, just her career) Phoebe Snow: At Last ( from the New York Rock and Soul Review, with Donald Fagan) ← vain attempt at appearing hip.
(Not dead, just her career) Linda Ronstadt: Lush Life
Rosemary Clooney (dead) Memories of you

OK so I overdid that answer. Sue me. I got in a reverie there and started swooning.

5. What 3 people are you going to pass this baton to and why?

Gabrielle at Handmaiden
Emily at whatsthatgonnabe?
Diane at Going to Pieces

There is some hope that these wimmen will not scoff at the idea, and will gladly play along. Plus there is a bit of age on two of the three ( not older than moi, mind you) and the young’un is a very kool knitter who will add a tinge of youthful relevance to this nonsense.

  1. Oops, I wasn't done. I have to come up with something besides "Bow Wow Wow, Whose Dog Are Thou?" by Kindermusik. Or then again, maybe that will sound really so hip, because no one has ever heard of it, they won't know it's for a 3 year old.

  2. I LOVE your list, as a matter of fact. And I own CDs by quite a few of the folks you mentioned. I keep meaning to get some Diana Krall because I like what little I've heard.

And my mom just turned 72 and I don't consider her old, so there. Nyah. :p
