Collaborating with Janet

Striped Stack

Leaf Light
This is such fun, to have a new design challenge to start off my week.
Thanks to you all for participating and giving me a living, breathing reason to quilt.

Now I am working with Janet  and she wrote:

I've studied all of your posted photos, noting ones that especially appealed to me. I went back through them a second and third time, testing myself to see which ones I picked out again and again. Anyway, to answer the questions:

1. size: SMALL, MAYBE 12" - 15"
2. orientation: SQUARE, BUT CAN BE WONKY

3. color scheme: HIGH CONTRAST, VIVID

4. surface treatments: HAND QUILTING, MACHINE QUILTING

5. imagery: UP TO YOU. I LIKE STRIPED STACK, DESERT SKY and ESPECIALLY LEAF LIGHT. I LIKE CROSS SERIES CITRUS FOR COLOR REFERENCE -- LOVE RED/GREEN COMBO, BUT PRETTY MUCH WHATEVER WORKS. AGAIN, UP TO YOU.
6. fused or pieced: PREFER PIECED WITH ONLY A LITTLE FUSING, BUT WHATEVER WORKS.
----------- I look forward to seeing what you come up with. I pretty much love everything you do and have enjoyed watching the "commissions" as they progress.
Thanks . . . Janet

Desert Sky
Cross Series: Citrus

Everything that Janet chose was a fused composition so imagine my surprise when she asked for pieced with only a little fusing. Now that is a challenge! Does that mean no dots? Well, she did say only a little fusing and dots are little, so I guess I am OK then!

  1. Hi Melody,
So much of your fused work appears to be pieced. Maybe Janet thought more of her favorite works were pieced instead of fused. This latest leg of your journey is so interesting and fun. I just miss seeing you!!

  2. Another benefit for us is seeing all of these again! I always think I've seen all of your work since I look at it so often but now Desert Sky just knocked my socks off. It's like seeing it again for the very first time! :)

  5. So much fun to watch along as you progress, and to see what the person wanted and how you nail it each time, yet bring so much more to it! I've got my wish list almost complete!

  6. I believe this series may become a classic in quilting blogs. Every day I can't wait to see what the next step in the process will be. The results have been spectacular. Thanks for taking the time to make this work for all of us.
