My Favorite Crayons: Quilted and Bound

Here we have the first and second unquilted versions of the same quilt, My Favorite Crayons, which I took apart and reassembled. I liked version 2 much better, and then I was very careful to mark the orientation of the design when I took it apart AGAIN and added some 2.5"wide strips to add width.

This resulted in three sections, which I quilted individually and assembled as Quilt As I Go.
Some how when I connected the three sections I lost sight of the order that I had worked out.
O WELL.

It's quilted and that's what is important. I made the top in March 2011, so now two years later I am happy to have it finished and usable.
I was lucky to be able to borrow my sister's sewing machine while mine is in hospital, as she has the same exact model, which finished off this big piece. 65x75".
It is about half hand dyed cottons and half commercial cottons.
+++++
I am storing my larger quilts on this bed. So far there are four here. I have no more room in my quilt closet, and I don't want to relocate them to the attic, so this is a make-do-solution. I cover the whole thing with a cloth, preventing dog hair on it all.

  1. Interesting how putting it on a bed changes your perception of it! Love it! and your attic quilts are amazing.

  4. Carol, that rainbow binding is a print, which I found at a Walmart in GA a while back.

    Melody,

    How did you do this - Quilt as you go? I mean how did you assemble?

    Thanks

  7. I love this quilt. I love the way you arranged your colors, and for some reason it just speaks to me. I would put this on my bed in a moment. Keep up the good job!
