Summer Camp

Summer Camp
Hand dyed cottons, fused, machine quilted.
$250 Email me.

The other day I was looking through my old sketchbooks and saw this tiny 2" wide sketch and immediately felt the urge to bring it to life.
Out went the scrap pile of sewing fabric and onto the table came my bin of fused fabric.
I wasn't even dressed yet, but started right in making the pine tree, and then the checkerboard. Not a thought was given to color scheme. My little sketch told me what to do next. Lots of sunny colors came into mix and before I knew it I was ready to cut dots and tiny triangles.

We recently watched the dvd of Moonrise Kingdom and the camping theme is still in my head. Such a darling movie. Nutty and funny too.

Details of the dots which I think of as sunbeams. Ah summer...

  3. Lovely quilt! What a great idea, to go through old sketchbooks.

  4. Fusing is certainly your forte! You have just created another fantastic art piece that I will covet! Bravo!

  5. Clever, clever, clever!

  6. I've just caught up with blog reading, and when I read your comment from the other day about reading in the daytime, I had a chuckle to myself. I think I'll have to do the same- night-time reading is not getting me far! I also love your idea of a quilt a week- that might help my current period of procrastination. Thankyou so much for your lovely colourful blog.
