Ready to Sew

It was such a stay-indoors-day, and I was happy to have a clean studio to mess up. I got all my boxes of scraps out and put the pre-pieced leftovers on the board, cut a few pieces apart and rearranged them and waited to be inspired.  I had this idea to use only the fabric in these boxes, as some sort of limiting factor. So far it has me stymied. Am I making a wall quilt, a nap quilt or a bed quilt? And do I need to know ahead of time? Kinda.
I looked at my fave quilts on Flickr and Pinterest and think, OK I'll do that, but then I don't. I know it will come to me eventually, but not quite yet. Perhaps I should remove all the pre-pieced things and throw up something in one colorway, with a contrast and see if that leads to something.
Part of my problem is that there a lots of prints in these boxes and they also hold me back. So maybe getting them separated and using the precut solids in the mix will help. At least it's a way to start.
++++
It was terribly windy yesterday and we got our first snow of the season. Nothing exciting, but I am thankful that I didn't have anywhere to go. Brrrr

  1. I love those photos. The colors just make me so happy...except for the darks! They make me feel cold and as if it's a dark miserable day. I wonder if your other readers get those two feelings from the same photo. I think it's a great study in the importance of color.
    As always, I'm looking forward to seeing what comes out

  2. It almost looks like you are making two different projects unless you start cutting and mixing the pre-pieced. The darks make the light happy pop; almost like spring emerging from winter. I find the darks rich and silent. I look forward to seeing where this takes you.

  3. I could hang your design wall on my living room wall and that's all the art I'd need. I can't wait to see where you go with all this!
