I love the detail shots, can you tell? I am often asked how I plan the quilting designs. I don't. I may have an idea of what I will do and then when I start stitching, I forget it all and just go with the flow.
Some lines are done with the feed dogs up and others are done free motion. I can't say which is better, or why I did either. When I am in the zone, the brain is off somewhere else. With this design I was able to keep my interest up because each section could be stitched in a different pattern.
So now that it is finished I can focus on the holidays. Or just be lazy for a week or two. Yeah, that's the ticket.
