Un-Designed Preliminaries

After I cleaned up the studio from my previous quilting, I brought out the hand dyed stuff and started making fabric from strips. This is NOT THE DESIGN. I pinned the finished fabric up on the wall so I could see what colors I needed to make from this point onward. I slapped on the small bits just to see what they might look like, but really, this is NOT THE DESIGN.

I took these shots and looked at them on the computer, where I can dink around and consider what this might look like chopped up a bit.
And without taking anything down I can flip the photo and consider the layout vertically instead of horizontally. So much easier than actually moving everything.

I'm pretty sure that large plain areas of unstripped colors will be added to the mix and some of the strips here will be cut up, for sure.
Not that I have a plan...which I don't. We'll see what comes of this beginning.

I continue to be amazed that just plain old strips end up so vibrant and design worthy - even though that is NOT a design on the wall.

  7. I like the uneven edges. Don't have to fill in the spaces if it's a wall hanging....

  15. Almost forgot to tellyou about a quilt show! Smoky Mtn Guild is having their show this friday, saturday, and sunday in Maryville at the college. Easy to find and great quilts to see! My monster quilt got a first place... alittle bragging here. We have Linda Roy in our guild and she got best of show.
