Hold the Presses !
After thinking it over and looking at the original version on the blog, I decided that this top needed to be changed.
I didn't like the left side center horizontal seam line. It was too much of a cut right through the middle. So I opened up the vertical seam and took the left side and flipped it upside down and added a two inch strip with some triangles and and sewed it to the right edge. Then to finish off the right edge I added a plain strip of five colors. The new dimensions went from 58.5" to 61.5" wide by 75 long.
There. Much better.

ReplyDeleteyes! it is in the process that the magic lies, for me too! the last version seams balanced well!
ReplyDeleteoh, the pup looked so sweet asleep on the pink web quilt in last post.
Oh, that’s much better! That horizontal seamline you fixed was honestly the only thing (on a quilt top, LOL) you’ve ever done that bothered me. As always, your work is beautiful and vibrant! Hugs, Cathy
ReplyDeleteWow that's the artist in you seeing that and knowing what to do. I think they both look great.
ReplyDeleteI like V2 much better but what bothered me was the center triangle on the right side. Now that you have added to the right side, it doesn't demand as much attention. Very nice, Mel.
ReplyDeleteI really like version 2. In the first the orange stripes stood out a great deal. Now everything flows together so much better. Good choices
ReplyDeleteYou're right. The changes make a huge difference. I'd never have thought of that!
