This was FUN! I love the colors and the way some parts line up to make horizontal bands, It was neat to make up the combinations of the 12 fabrics. It should be fun and easy to quilt too. Stitch in the ditch first and then more straight line stitching to finish it. The finished top size now is 52.5x72" which is big enough for a nap quilt.
I put it on the floor to see if it squared up with my floor tiles, and it does. Some of these fabrics are from my earliest days of dyeing. Like 1990.

I just knew you were going to do this quilt when you posted your choices the other day. THe color combos are so interesting. They are what I like to look at in my quilts. I wonder why some of us just love the bright action packed colors and others are drawn to muted and muddy.
I want to make some pieced Roman shades for my bedroom, and this would be a great technique for that project. Thank you for the inspiration.

Pretty, pretty, pretty! I don't think I have the color sense to pull this off - you really have an eye for combining close colors for interest and varying the intensity of the whole combo so it doesn't overwhelm the viewer. Really nice!

Hope you don't mind that I referred to your beautiful quilt in my blog. It inspired me to make a strippy backing for a quilt, so had to give you credit. Not nearly so artistic, but it did the job. Also, I won't have it done any time soon, but you've also inspired me to pull out some hand dyes that I've been collecting and make something. Been thinking of a Ricky Tims' Rhapsody.
Just love it! My mum gave me heaps of her own dyed fabrics and I've been wondering how to piece them like a showcase of pretty colours, and I think I know how, if you don't mind? I won't copy it, just use the idea, are you okay with that?
