Adding Valances

I was feeling a little lazy today, and didn't get into the sewing room til after one pm. The easiest and smallest project seems to be doing valances, but putting it off has been very easy too. I had a zillion different plans but decided to stick with something simple, matching the big pillowcase. The tension rods from Joann's were the perfect no-hardware-mounting solution to hang valances inside the window well, in front of the blinds headers.

Measure, measure and remeasure. It was worth being careful.

So here's what I have ahead of me, project-wise. I need to replace the sunflower quilt, mostly because it is promised to a show at the American Quilting Museum later next year, and I might as well think about replacing it now.
So far I have only used the cotton duck coordinates and about a yard of green quilting cotton for welting. The quilting fabrics are just calling out to me, but I am making myself wait until the rest of the furnishings are made.

  1. Wow I'd do the curtain and the table cover. I love everthing else. Please let us know how you do with the quilt in the show. Getting late to your room... You do such an awesome job it doesn't matter.

  2. Happy Christmas to you, Dave and Chumley.

I'm surprised you're not in turkey-stuffing mode - or do Americans only do turkey-excess on Thanksgiving? We've got new inlaws coming en masse so it's turkey and ham and all the frills here. I'd better get going! Tank you for your blog - I make a point of reading it every day, when I need to re-energize myself!

Your room is really taking shape!

(As I watch it change, it makes me wonder whether that's a metaphor; but perhaps I'm just projecting!)

If I don't "see" you tomorrow or the day after - happiest of Christmases to you and Dave and little Chumley too.

Thanks for all the happiness you bring your readers throughout the year.

    :)
