Treehouse

Treehouse

Hand dyed and commercial cottons, fused, hand and machine quilted. 14.5x15" $250 Email me

This quilt happened by accident. Sorta.

I went to clean off my worksurface and found that lime green house shape and one piece led to another. I have recently learned about making quilts using a color scheme. Wha? Well, for years I have had the use of a myriad of colors in a single piece of fabric and that led me to use 'all color all the time' which in a way became my trademark.
But the concept of limiting my palette happened later in life, thankfully, and now I try to work within a range of colors, usually in three or so hues, but in many values within that hue. One needs darks, mediums and lights to have real impact. And now that I have discovered this way of working I see a real change in the finished product.
I am so happy that serendipity took over. I really feel I am back in the saddle.

  2. It doesn't have an obvious Halloween theme to me. I like the way the elements are balanced, especially wiht that horizontal piece of commercial fabric on the right. Just the right touch!

  7. Beautiful!
So, if commercial fabric edges tend to fray despite being fused w/ WU, how will that horizontal piece that Brooke mentioned not fray? or don't you worry about that?
    Thanks so much.

  12. I understand the joy of bathing in color, unwilling to reject any of them; but the limited scales are yet greater, because all colors can be tiring, whereas these let the eye rest on the quilt and find quietude.
