Citrus

#71

Citrus
oil on gallery wrapped canvas
16x12x1"

This is a larger painting than my usual 12" square and is also painted in natural light from my window. The shadows and highlights kept changing, and that was quite a challenge. I can see why many Painting a Day folks paint from photographs. What we are really after is the essential light and when the sun moves it means we see everything in a different light, if that isn't too obvious a statement.

I choose my subject mostly based on color, and then their reflective qualities. That is the challenge for me at first, but then it is the atmosphere that I find keeps my interest.

And now for the big reveal. My 16 painting commission from last month has been hung and you can see it here. I am so delighted!

  4. I have loved seeing all your produce paintings and the commission turned out fabulous. It's exciting to see them all hung together. Gorgeous! You should have prints made of these and sell them in sets.
