The Waiting Game

The very strong winds which preceded the rain took down a tree at the front of the shade garden overnight. Thank heaven it fell where it couldn't hurt anything. It was still partially living, with buds on the higher branches, but the trunk was in bad shape, so it just snapped. It was right at the front so this will bring lots more light and more space to that shady area.

It rained buckets all day and we even had a tornado watch. Thankfully we are high enough not to worry too much. But we couldn't really go out and play.

So indoors I checked on my multiple mini-greenhouses. I have lots of nice windowsills in this house (none in the old house at all) and I am taking advantage, with anything that will hold water, seeds or soil.

Empty lunchmeat containers work great and I have written the names of the seeds on the lids.

Genovese Basil seedlings. One of nine varieties of basil seeds I am planting. Coleus seedlings. I'll be putting them in peatpots today. Cosmos Picotee.
Now the rain is gone and we have a plan to visit a nursery in McMinnville today. Woowoo!

  1. Wow, you are really going to town! It's like the whole house is a nursery or something. Looks great!

  2. You have a lot more patience than I do with those little tiny seedlings.

  4. Busy Busy! At least the weather is taking care of some of the drought problems in the area.

  5. Mrs. Mel, I am thrilled to see your green thumb poking out! You and Dave are obviously having a wonderful time! Quilting and knitting will wait.
