Living in Adventureland

It was such a sunny and warm day (high 50's) for the 31st of December that we couldn't bear to stay indoors sewing, and crafting all day. And we needed some exercise to diminish the effect of the Brownie Cheesecake upon which we have been bingeing. So off we went to our local nature spot, Savage Gulf. We have never walked as far as the falls until yesterday.

There were two Adventureland type bridges to cross before we got there and that was fun and scary at the same time. The trek was about 1.5 miles to get to the falls. One way. I hold the record for stubbing my toe on roots and rocks, even tho I was watching every step I took.

Glory and me

God made this, not Walt Disney.

And got to see them without even a hint of how wonderful they might be.

Don't get too close to the edge, Dave warned us...
It was loud and cooler there and I couldn't help thinking how much I would have loved this as a kid. Imagining myself as an archeologist or an explorer seeing this for the first time.

Obviously a good spot for producing Moonshine...

We climbed all over the rocks and then decided it was time to go home. The trail had a rest stop, thank heaven, and we sat for just a minute feeling our joints seizing up. We made it back to the car and groaned for the next several hours.

  1. What a wonderful adventure, and to be warm enough to do it. See my blog today for what IL has to show.

  2. How cool to have that so very close to your house.
I'd never get there, I couldn't go on those bridges, even the photos make my knees wobble.
    Happy New Year!
