Girly Stuff
.
Yesterday was the coldest day we have had so far. Glory got dressed in layers with her robe as the final topping. I decided to make cookies, since we had eaten all that were made for Christmas and the oven would speed up warming the house.
I thought we had all the necessary ingredients, and we did, mostly. Except instead of chocolate chips we had Andes Mint chocolate morsels, green and chocolatey brown. So those went into the 'oatmeal breakfast cookie' along with raisins and coconut. A very different non standard flavor, and the aroma was crisp and fresh.

We loved the peanut butter cookies and that's when we ran low on brown sugar, so we just added a bit more regular sugar and they tasted just fine.

I wanted to use up the white chocolate chips and decided to make Magic Cookie bars but those call for graham cracker crumbs, and having none I substituted store-bought chocolate fudge cookies, the kind with fudge frosting between two chocolate layers. Are your teeth aching yet?
I mixed the crushed crumbs with melted butter and spread them onto a parchment lined 13x9x2 pan (for easy removal later) and poured on the sweetened condensed milk. This layer is topped it with coconut, slivered almonds and white chocolate chips.

This cookie is so much like candy that I know I will end up freezing some, or we will be toothless in no time.

I decided to clean up my blog sidebar a bit, as seems to be the trend this week. Both Gabrielle and Dee have done it first and so did Frieda, only she was forced to when her blog got taken hostage. I put my linked blogs in alphabetical order, at 5:dark thirty this morning which took all my mental resources.

In honor of that rearrangement, we plan on making this Furniture Rearrangement Day at our house. And then a trip into town to scout out girly shoppes. What fun!

  2. oooooo, girls day out. Sounds wonderful and fun. Have a ball. I was going to have a cookie with my tea but after the description of the last cookie bar-can't do it. Teeth hurt just hearing the ingredients. Thank goodness I'm out of all of those things and too lazy for a trip to the store to get them. Something to be said for sloth, no?

Yum!!! Love the cleaning on the side bar, as well. I do miss the little pix, though.

  7. Dee sent me here, and I'm so glad! But if you'll excuse me, I have to go bake some cookies now. I think we'll aim for peanut butter with Hershey Kisses jammed on top, but really, who knows if that's where we'll end up.
