A Romp in the Woods
We live right down the road from Savage Gulf, a wilderness area that is huge. After we worked most of the day in our own yard, we decided to tromp around in the woods some more and see what this area has to offer. The weather yesterday was perfect for this sort of excursion.
We followed a trail for about 30 minutes until we came to a suspension bridge over a pretty nearly dry river bed. It was creaky and swinging, and this was about the only picture I got that was in focus. Notice the rhododendron next to the bridge. It and it's neighboring bushes have to be 20 feet tall. Imagine these in the Spring, loaded with pink blossoms. I can't wait!
The drought here has slowed the stream down to a trickle, but no doubt winter's snows (will there be snow?) will fill this up.
We hiked for the better part of an hour and then scooted home for a dinner of whiskey sours and popcorn. Perfect.
Such a perfect day... a woman after my own heart!
