By Jove! I think she's got it!

At last I have found the combination of yarn and pattern to make my slippers MINE. These are Noro Kureyon with a fringe of furry yarn. They are only partly felted at this point and still way too big. But I intend to really shrink them and turn them into real felt. I used my regular sock pattern, but changed the heel to just garter stitch, which is fast, and of course eliminated the leg ribbing. There is a bit of ribbing at the ankle, with the fur yarn held along with the Noro. Size 8 needles, 48 stitches cast on.

So then I decided to make another pair with superwash yarn, unfelted but washable. Worsted weight superwash from KnitPicks. Really nice yarn and I used one ball for each slipper. Size 4 needles 48 stitches cast on. The fur is something from my stash, no label.

I do believe I have ten thousand of these in my future. They take only a couple of hours per slipper. And now what combos will I devise?? O boy!

Lovely! Those fuzzy cuffs are the perfect application for novelty yarns, imo!

Does this new slipper sock passion mean there won't be a big yarn sale, after all, over at YarnforDessert?

  2. Oh I so love these cute little slipper/socks and would love to make a pair for my little girl. I am rather new to knitting - do you think this is something I can accomplish? I can knit, purl, bind off and have never knitted socks. IF so, please do tell -- where can I get the pattern? They are adorable.

Only you, Mel.....they are so cute. I should make some because I am getting tired of wearing holes in my socks....and the further into this menopause thing I get the fewer hot flashes I am having....

Mrs. Mel, do you ever sleep? I think you are the most productive person I know.

I love the slippers and can't wait to see your completed quilt panels.

Melody, it was you that got me started on the clothing thing with your layered knits. Did you ever get those made up or did they remain wip?
I need these slippers! I'm going to make some.
