The Big Plan is a packet of seeds, (even if we don't plant seeds to grow trees unless we are Johnny Appleseed) and the plot of land that we have dreams of filling with lush growing specimens. I am dreaming of tomatoes, peppers, green beans, peas, spinach and garlic.
But I am well aware of the time it takes to bring these dreams to life. This tree peony at my old house took all of 18 years to reach this fullness. Still it doesn't stop me from trying.
Tree peonies are always worth the wait (but from seed?!?) Now you have lots of space grow all the colours. Apparently the yellow ones grow fastest but these are my least favourite.
ReplyDeleteMelody, your new series is beautiful, I like all the dots and strips! :-)

How well do peonies do down there?
ReplyDeleteMel, I've found that this area is great for daylilies--they come in so many colors and you get a return very quickly; they cover a lot of area fast too. There are several daylily farms nearby. I've ordered from oakesdaylilies.com and what I received (in August) was very hardy, healthy stock that I'm sure is going to be blooming this coming year.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy the personal aspiration aspect of this one. I like the "story" you are telling with it.
ReplyDeleteAnd it looks nice, too. It is a constant surprise to see these vintage fabrics in this series.
I envy you the tree peonies. I miss peonies from when I grew up in the midwest. We can't grow them here in San Diego. I try to get excited about drought tolerant plants. It's not the same.
