Gratitude
It's pouring rain!! I ran to get the camera before it got too dark to shoot. The pond is full of leaves and needs water like mad and now we are getting it.The ducks are busy having a bite of dinner and are ignoring the glorious precipitation. All the farmers have been worried and now this great deluge is upon us, just in the nick of time. What superb timing. Lots of prayers are being answered.
I got back in the kitchen and made bread, cornbread and Crunchy Pear Cheesecake. Woowoo!
This spate of baking is all about trying to make the house seem like home. Cooking does it better than doing the laundry.
Outside we are taking down the vines, wisteria which threatens to de-roof us, and planting Spring bulbs. It all will go towards making us feel like we really live here and are not just visitors.
I am so grateful not to have to be in an airport this holiday and to be here with Dave and Popeye. And I am grateful to be safe and warm, well fed and healthy. And to have internet access.
It's good to be grateful. I am grateful everyday....I cooked all day, and I am grateful that I had stuff to cook with....
ReplyDeleteI'm grateful for our soaking rain today too. We're having a huge neighborhood communal dinner later, and I got my six dozen yeast rolls baked yesterday! Today I have clean pans to put away, but before I do, that cheesecake looks tempting, and I happen to have everything on hand, and a couple of hours to kill. Thanks for the recipe, Melody.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving, Melody and Dave. We got the first snow last night. Not much and it didn't stick to the street. But it's snow. And it's not snow where you are, so I'm sure that news will make you happy!
ReplyDeleteI did my chores for the day, which were figuring out how to put the leaf in the new dining table, putting the new pad on the new table, and finding a bigger tablecloth instead of the one I bought the other day. (I forgot about the leaves when I bought the tablecloth).
HOwever, I had two tablecloths that I bought years ago, just to get the fabric, when they were clearanced. They are perfect for Thanksgiving, in harvest colors. I was lamenting a few weeks ago about all the weird stuff I bought on clearance, and now I feel that I was just brilliant buying these four years ahead of time!
Love,
Robbi
I am thankful for my mom who I am just now beginning to understand from a "woman" point of view.
