Got Wheels?

Dave had a doctor's appointment in Hixson and I had a shopping list. How convenient that Hobby Lobby and Lowe's/Home Depot are right around the corner from the doctor's office. And how smart of me to remember to unscrew my new table's flat foot and bring it with me to match up with screw-in casters. I found these at Home Depot for like $7 a pair. Compare that to $7 each from Ace ( for my wire shelving).

I get 40% off coupons online from Hobby Lobby and wandered in with no particular item in mind but was stopped dead in my tracks at this clearance sale. Da Vinci Watercolor tubes for $1.19 each!

Now that's a bargain I couldn't resist. Yes I have plenty of water colors, some as old as freshman year, which I will go through and toss, I promise. These are in great condition, soft and gooey and great big tubes. I am all set.

I have been on a baking binge lately, who knows why? Retirement has given me time, and Dave can eat bread, pizza, and pie, so why not please the man of my dreams. You may haven noticed that I lacked a rolling pin. Um, I gave it away when I decided to be a slim gal and diet for the rest of my life.
So much for that idea.
Now with my coupon I was able to get this great rolling pin meant for fondant rolling. As if. I will use it for pizza crust and biscuits. The beginning of the end. And while I was in the cake decorating aisle I decided to replace my 13x9x2 baking pan. Can brownies be in our future?
And now a comment about Bonnie's comment yesterday:
You must be settled in now...for a while you did the lines/stacks almost like you were looking for order in your life...now that the order is there we are seeing more shapes/circles/curves...I love the direction your art is taking you..and you must too.....
Are you taking on any new cases and can I make an appointment? I kid. This is way more thinking than I put into my work, honestly. But what my previous work was about was design 101 since pretty much that was what I was teaching. Now that I am not teaching I can go back to the stuff I used to make that is less elementary, a bit more time consuming and yet equally satisfying. Truth is I am totally happy with my new life and the freedom I am feeling in my art.
It's great to feel that anything I want to make is just the thing I should be making.
No rush, no expectations, no deadlines and the space and place to make it happen. Priceless.

Aha! Another convert to the school of wheeling! Pretty much every flat piece of furniture in my house has wheels now. It really helps when you need to redesign a space. It also helps my Roomba get into corners so I don't have to.

Melody, that is what I am hoping for in my year off from teaching. I know a year won't be enough, but perhaps it will stretch into more. I've still got kids to put through college. I live vicariously through your retirement.
