Celebration!
.
I was searching under the sink for something, who knows what, when I saw that we had indeed packed the liquor with us when we moved. How this has escaped my notice all this time is amazing. We had no mixer or lime juice, and my plan to purchase my wireless router was already afoot, so I added these items to my shopping list.
Earlier in the day I had made my usual batch of bread dough (see the sidebar, No Knead Bread) and decided that this was a day of celebration and PIZZA was the treat for us.

Here I am rolling out the dough. Doesn't everyone use a baseball bat for a rolling pin?One of two mini pizzas, right out of the oven. This was after only one Gin Gimlet, mind you.

So I mentioned celebrating something. Um. Yes, it was the rain. Finally we have rain, which is so badly needed in this area, that even schools are closing because of low water pressure. Terrible. I had to fill up the frog pond with the hose the other day.

And I am also celebrating assembling another piece of studio furniture, the Alex chest.

This was a bear to assemble. 90 million parts, with 7 trillion screws and things that have to be fit and pounded in. But sooooo worth the effort.
A place for everything and everything in its place. So far. There is nothing worse than knowing you have the item in question, and not being able to find it. My fabric awaits, and the TV is connected,

And now at last I can blog from my studio. All I need is one of those wine refrigerators and I will never have to leave.

  1. I love the way you store your quilts on the door. Don't you do something similar for your circular knitting needles? How do you label the needles to keep them straight. I've tried reading the size on the needle -- hah! that was a joke. These old tired eyes did *not* like that.

  2. I'm happy that you are finally getting settled and can find everything. Are you still planning on using the garage as some type of studio too?

Gotta ask- did you pick up the "Alex" at IKEA or have it shipped?? I just had major heart failure when I placed an order for one and realized the cost of shipping was more than TWICE the cost of the cart!! Needless to say I am calling to cancel the order!!

  5. That picture of you rolling out the dough with the baseball bat cracked me up. Totally funny.

  6. Seeing the picture of the canvas on the floor reminded me of something someone may have already suggested, but...Floor Cloth! Are you familiar with them? (http://www.netw.com/~rafter4/floorcloth.htm) You could basically paint a rug for your floor on the canvas - it would be stiffer than the soft canvas so you don't trip over bumps, and easier to sweep because of the shinier finish the paint/varnish would give it, but still a cheap, easily replaced solution.

You know, nos that I think of it, I could make one for the family room part of our kitchen/family room...hmm...
