Focus Schmocus
The hummingbirds hold still for such a short time, and I had to take these shots through the window and I was soooo excited that I neglected to focus properly.
But you can still see his little adorable self. They arrive early each morning and luckily can't see in our window so we can get a good long look at them. Of course they fly away the minute the camera is ready. This morning I had good luck and then Blogger was screwed up and I couldn't get on to blog. Grrrr.
On another note entirely, we have finished decorating the living room, and the proof
is that we hung the artwork. When we were packing, our friends remarked that we had an awful lot of art, didn't we? They only saw half of it. The framed half. The quilts doubled that amount.
And now in a smaller house we are faced with fewer walls to hang it all on. But it will rotate I am sure.
I don't think I had ever had this piece hanging in the old house for long. It fits so nicely up the staircase. And it benefits from a not too close inspection.
I figured another chair couldn't hurt. I seem to have a fondness for chairs. We also have a collection of art chairs, you might recall, and now I am trying to find spots for them too.
Are you starting to see the Mexican Chalet style we talked about earlier? The red drapes are faux suede, close to being red velvet. Too too, eh?
Don't be too concerned about scaring off the hummers--they WILL get close to people! They're positively brazen!!
ReplyDeleteLovely. Looks like home.
ReplyDeleteHmmm - what about the white walls, will you be painting them? (Not that there is anything wrong with them - I liked the bright walls in your last house, maybe you want a change??) It's looking very homey! Love the hummers too - we don't really have them here in SW FL.
ReplyDeleteYour house is looking GOOD!
ReplyDeleteAren't birds fun to watch--I get such a charge out of them. They're sort of the HBO of the natural world:)

It's looking great. I am still debating on wall colors. I need a change from the contractor beige I have but I want something that will not hide the art....I am leaning towards several very pale oranges/peaches.
ReplyDeleteShoot- those hummers will get so used to you they will dive-bomb you when you go out to fill the feeders! At my friend's cottage on Stormy Lake in Conover, WI we would sit on the deck and have to duck because of the hummer wars that would break out....Gen has probably 6 hummer feeders but they are SO territorial!

Have your neighbors told you "Yur ain't from around here, is yah?" yet? That color is sure to liven up any house! All that's missing is a string of chili pepper lights! Thanks for sharig.
ReplyDeleteThis is making me very happy - seeing the house looking so good and the art up on the walls! I'm sure you and Dave are having a blast!
ReplyDeleteHummingbirds, chickens, ducks. Haven't seen the ducks lately.
