Dateline: Mars Hill North Carolina

I am teaching this weekend at the North Carolina Quilt Symposium on the campus of Mars Hill College.

It is breathtaking scenery around here and the people are wonderful. One of my students (a blog reader!) took me to Asheville after class yesterday to see the fabu galleries, Blue Spiral, American Craft Gallery, Bellagio and New Morning in the Biltmore Village. And then to dinner in a very very nice restaurant, Enoteca. O my!
The art is spectacular and so inspiring. But mostly it makes me want to paint. The galleries are showing the work of artists I have seen in books and online and then to see it in person, ahhhhhh so fantastic.

I was delighted to see the work of Janet Steadman hanging at Bellagio. Spectacular! I had never seen these new works of hers but it turns out that the one on the opening page of her website is it!
I can't post pictures for you because I am using the library's computer. Mine won't go online for some reason. I Promise to post pics when I get home.

  1. I looked at the restaurant name and realized that it was "acetone" backwards. Hope you are feeling okay today.

Asheville was one of my favorite places to visit when we lived in NC.It is a tres artsy place and lots of good restaurants. Plus the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains - what is not to love - oh, it is on the other side of the Rockies where I will not live again!!
