Where are we going?
We are planning on looking in North Carolina, around Asheville in April. I have been looking online since last July and have seen many wonderful properties come and go. For a while we were waiting on Dave's doctors and now we feel like we are at a good time to make the move.
My dream is to make Dave's dreams come true. He would like a stream to fish in, even if there are no actual fish, and a woods to tramp around in too. I would like the woods, and a porch with a view, and if possible a flat sunny spot for a garden.
I think we have found several houses that qualify.
Now we just have to sell this house.
The realtor is coming Friday at 3pm to take a look. Until then, it's clean, purge and rearrange.
FYI I am bringing my scraps to my Hudson Valley workshop at the end of the month. 14 people will make quick work of them I am sure.

If Asheville is too expensive, try living on the TN side. Johnson City is only 1 hour away from Asheville. Of course we don't have the art and culture that Asheville has, but it is less expensive to live here. I hope to see you at the end of May at the Bee in the Mountains at Mars Hill.

  3. You will LOVE Asheville...it is beautiful, funky, artsy-fartsy, has 4 seasons but none of them is harsh, and it is THE place to be for artistic stimulation! We live there part-time and it kills us to return north every month. The steep terrain may be tough on Dave but you will both fall in love with it! There are beautiful mountain views everywhere!

Good Luck - you will love Ashville - especially in April!! Should be lots of flowers in bloom. I think the winters will be much better than were you live now too!

I want to move to Ashville, judging to all your comments about it. Sounds like a wonderful place.

Asheville, NC, western NC and eastern TN have some of the most hazardous waste sites in the country. Paducah, KY is another one. You can check out the EPA's web site or do a google search but please check it out before you move to a dream home in the area. If you check out the area personally, talk to some of the old timers not the people who have moved into the area in the last ten years. Dave might enjoy the fishing but I surely hope he doesn't eat the fish.
