Home again, home again, jiggity jig...

What do I miss the most when I am away? Hard to say. Of course, I miss my Dave, and Popeye but it is usually the familiar routine that I miss the most. My own plumbing has to be near the top of the list, and of course, my own tv schedule...my own bed, which Dave nicely remade with clean sheets for my return. Is he not the Prince of all Men?

I am happy to see that the maple tree held onto its leaves until I returned.

The red leaves last only a day or two and then when your back is turned, they all drop at once. Then we pray for a strong west wind, which conveniently blows them into the neighbor's yards and so we won't have to rake.

When I come home from a trip I have to put away all the collected stuff in my luggage, wash clothes and decide what to toss from the refrigerator. None of these are all that much fun, but it is a necessary evil to my readjustment.

I had a great time in Yellowknife, and noted that the atmosphere there was so marvelously upbeat. The people who live there are from all over the world, and found themselves in this remote spot, and decided to jump in with both feet. The social life is busy busy busy, and the cold weather doesn't prevent them from venturing from one event to another.

The gals in my class made fabu work and inspired me to do more myself! I forgot my knitting needles one day and had to resort to making a quilt top while I was there (I can't just sit there...and teaching only takes five minutes...ignore that if you are a program chairperson). Then I took that quilt top photo into Picasa 2 and cropped and repeated the image and designed two or three quilts that I could now make from that original idea. I will have to dye some fabric specifically for the new works, so this will take a while. I will post the efforts of course.

I had a large box waiting for me from California, and it is filled with fabric scraps, PRINTS!!, which will be added to the huge piles I have received from two other faithfull blog readers. (Great big THANKS to you all)

It looks like I am about to start a pieced quilt. Write this historic date down somewhere.

Also on my email this morning: Pellon has written me about my use of Wonder-Under and wants to have a phone chat. Can this be a good thing? I hope so. I will share later.
