Super Summer
!
This has got to be the best summer ever. We are having plenty of rain which is making our world so green and lush, and the nights are cool and like man, I am sleeping great!
No one ever exclaims how wonderful it is to sleep the whole night through, but I have done this very thing, for two nights in a row, and I am a NEW WOMAN.
So I am putting that energy to work preparing for my guests who arrive on Thursday. Brooke (sister) and Glory (niece) will now each have a bike of their own to use while they are here, and their room has new art and a mostly empty bookshelf for stuff that overflows their cleared out closet space. And a laptop has just become available so they can blog and email without having to wait in line. We are all so dependent.

Abstract #1 looks pretty perfect in a room this color.

At night I am finishing this sock while I watch my fave summer cop show The Closer with Kyra Sedgewick. Plus we rented the Inspector Clouseau films with Peter Sellers, trying to erase the damage done by Steve Martin version.

Pink Lilies look happy in their new bed.

And the clematis continues to show its colors.

Dave has to mow every other day in this jungle atmosphere.

He climbed up a very tall ladder and onto a lower limb to saw off this dead limb. Once it came down we realized that it weighed about 300 pounds and it is now in our neighbors yard. We couldn't lift it, so we struggled to drag it as far as this. Then he went off to buy a chain saw. He has been thinking about getting a new one for months, and now has a real reason.

Meanwhile, indoors, with the Nancy Crow book making me throb, I have dyed up a bit of solids. I have six more yards to wash and iron this morning, and then I'll fuse up a selection and dive in.

But first I am quilting up the last two pieces lovingly.

Yes...that abstract is perfect for that room! And Dave's loving care is certainly showing in the yard.

Have fun with those beautiful fabrics. I am still trying to come up with a quilt idea for this year's charity quilt.

  2. That abstract looks wonderful there. (and, yeah.. we stopped the Steve Martin/ Kevin Kline debaucle after only 15 minutes... such a waste of talent!)

Something makes me very happy to see you quilting with one of those table extensions. And the quilt looks so happy to be there.

  4. Speaking of table extensions... isn't it so great to stash all the little items like bobbins and screw drivers and little scissors under the extension and then they don't get pushed off by the quilt?! I am so excited for Glory and Brooke's visit. You are all going to have a great time.

I love Kyra Sedgwick. She's so talented in this. The Sedgwick family are some really interesting people. Did you know that they have a burial ground called the Sedgwick pie. All the decedents are laid to rest in a pie shape since the 1700s. Do you remember Edie Sedgwick-one of Andy Warhol's crowd? I've got a hangover just thinking about it. Loving that little stack thingy going on to the side there

  7. I am so envious...both your paintings and new work are so good. I can hardly wait to see all of the paintings..it seems as if I see one or two and then all of a sudden another one pops up. and the new quilt pieces are to dye for!
