Celebrating!
=
I had a bit of a windfall yesterday and felt the need to celebrate. But how? I am not buying yarn, new clothes, going out to dinner, or more garden plants. So instead I decided to make banana splits for me and Dave and eat them in the middle of the day. Diet ice cream has come a long way and I have one favorite brand that is only 80 calories per half cup (Breyers) and now there is even diet chocolate sauce (Nestle's Quik) and diet Cool Whip! I crushed some Brazil nuts as topping and it was scrumptuous. The picture above is twice the size of my concoction, but I failed to bring my camera to the party.
After we were satiated it was time for another bike ride. We have been riding around our little town discovering things we have never seen from the car. We have lived in Cary since 1989 and it amazes me how much I don't know about our little burg. For one thing, it is a river town, and the Fox River is home to a large contingent of motorboats and a variety of homes from tiny cottages to vast mega-mansions. The water itself is muddy and foul smelling from all the boats, but sparkles in the sunlight, just like it would if it were clean and potable.

What gets me, is that the big homes have signs all over that this is private waterfront, just for the use of these residents (and not us.) They must pay huge real estate taxes, but honestly they can keep this waterfront. It may have been wonderful once, but it has lost its appeal.

I'll take our 'open to the public' ponds that have clear water, no stink, and little blue gills that come up to the edge when we arrive. We have been feeding them and two little ducklings most of the mornings this week.

A big congrats on your 'Windfall'. Amazing, the paint wasn't even dry! Everyone who left comment said exactly what I wanted to say when I saw them.....though I am not a 'horse' person.
Holding my breath to see what you will do with the Frieda and Tommy pic.
    Well done and congrats again.
