Dateline: Denver National Quilt Fest

A new day in a new town and my first class was a really fun one. We did Power Strips Sets and added a new twist for the main focal point.

No blown fuses and plenty of electrical outlets made the day go perfectly.
Only one bad set of Wonder-Under and even that was salvageable. We fused first, watched a slide presentation and by the time we returned to our fabric, the paper was easily removed.
Kristin was used to more rules in a workshop, and I have no rules (except no rulers) so she said my class was Therapy for the Anal Retentives.

My friend Bonnie was in my class. She lives in Oconomowoc WI and is visiting a friend in Denver, so she will be in all my classes. It's so nice to have a friend to joke around with, and who understands my need to knit during class.

Afterwards we went to visit her friend in the loft district of downtown Denver. We both think this view has art quilt written all over it. She wants to make the horizontal stripes and I want the red wall. You have to use your imagination. A glass of wine helps.

Bonnie's friend is an architect and knows so much about all the construction that is going on in the city. These new loft apartments are so cool, and in amongst them are train tracks so one can have a full size train set right out your window. I know my brother would LOVE THIS.
This is all very close to the main Train Depot, which is historic and makes one long to climb aboad.

Another window shows Coors Field which was hosting a baseball game last night.

We don't know for sure what this building was, but it was brought here from somewhere else and sits waiting, maybe to be remodeled or moved again. I liked the red and white deco design so I had to share it with you.

The RED kitchen. This is an unfortunate picture of my host Hal, who was trying to find a good bottle of red for our cocktail hour. He was majorly successful.

Aren't we happy?

Dinner out and we ate the most delicious artichoke and pesto pizza. Sigh. I didn't personally eat it all myself, but y'know I could have.
What a lovely first day in Denver.

  3. Welcome to Denver. Sorry the weather isn't nicer - although it should be getting better as the weekend progresses.

That is a DINER and it was no doubt moved from New Jersey, the birthplace of diners.
