Adios Santa Fe

We are back home again but I wanted to share a few last photos of our trip. These flowers are from Santa Fe, on Canyon Road, where all the good art galleries are. I gathered lots of inspiration and postcards and will be attacking my art in new ways as soon as the laundry is done.

We vacation differently than most folks.

We get up very early and often have to wait for things to open.

Our hostess gave us a load of dvds that she recorded off cable so we watched movies early in the morning. We ate at home a lot since we had a complete kitchen and had grocery shopped right from the start. We made a patio table from a bench, bought some lawn chairs from Wal-Mart and ate outdoors often.

Maybe once a day we went to a restaurant, and always ordered something with green chili...

and lots of beans. I don't think we ever ate dinner at a restaurant, despite all the wonderful recommendations from friends. We would have nibbles and wine at home, and it seemed just the perfect end to our galavanting days.

On Wednesday we drove to Taos and stopped for pictures of the Rio Grande.

I know this photo can't capture the immensity of the landscape and the amazing views, but I tried.

I went into the famous La Lana Wools and only spent $60, on white wool. Like I am gonna buy their idea of hand dyed wool? I will make my own colors, thank you. Still it was fun to see the famous place. We ate lunch at an outdoor cafe in Taos, chicken tamales smothered in green chili with guacamole salad and margaritas. Stupendous.

I slept on the way home.

Being with Dave in such a place and having our days full of nothingness, walking, napping, and just lazing around was such a good tonic. I am refreshed and more in love than ever.
