Seasons change and so do WE!

The Forsythia decided to pop while we were working. The rain helped open these beautiful buds.

The thrust of our class was to work in a series, and release the Creative Block. That could mean almost anything, and we are allowed to change ideas at any time. Early days I began with this idea...

Stacking fabrics and making my series look like this casual accumulated set.

I made these two more or less like the first. They are small and limited in values, or colors and I gained courage from this exercise. After this I was able to make a new series that had more oomph.

Two versions of the same block. The first one had the strip on the left, which I removed and turned it 90 degrees to the left and added blue strips at the bottom. Much better composition imho, and I am glad to have had that change of mind.

Sue got started making a lot of different things, but I really liked this initial design and wanted to see her develop her series from it.

We are laffing hysterically because she has cranked out so many strip combinations for this project that we can't get them all out on the board. Piles of beautiful strip pieced fabrics...it is a process!

Not that she hasn't a focus, just lots and lots of great ideas. I expect when I return this morning that there will be a great piece up and ready for a close-up, Mr. Demille.

Connie put all her series pieces into one spectacular composition. Hard to believe these were all separate designs earlier in the week.

She matched up angles as though they were carefully planned originally. NOT so. It all came together so well.

Stacey started out using her neutrals like this. This morning I will witness her changed mind too. I know when I left the studio last night that we had not one part of this piece intact.

Marcia topped herself with this WONDERFUL composition. Changing to very loose and free from controlled and tight. Great work Marcia. I am glad to have witnessed the evolution!

Previously organized and 'safe' composition.

Laura makes the most wonderful lyrical sensuous feminine stylized yumminess. I see great things resulting from these elegant floral shapes.

Speaking of change...I began this week determined to stick to my diet. ha! I changed my mind.

I ate everything! Including cookies, bread, and caviar! I must start my own late lent.
...starting Monday.
