I think these are elegant sophisticated designs, but I have yet to convince Stacey. I promised her that overnight it would all become clear to her and she would see them in a new light this morning.
Joanie continues to crank out wonderful pieces. These three are all hers.
Elfie made this fantastic leaf piece early in the week and is working on more great things, TBA.
She even got in some hand stitchery.
Laura has an elegant line and a scrumptious color sense. Can one eat fabric?
She made this small piece (about 8x10") and it is just what I think of as a trigger for a really whamo series. I plan to steal it right from under her nose. I'll call it an homage or inspired by, but we all know it is highway robbery of the artistic kind.
(those of you really worried about copying---I KID!)
I have my OWN SERIES GOING.
I began this late Wednesday afternoon and finished it Thursday morning. It's about 30 x 40". This detail shows the block element that I chose as my constant. The strange colors excited me.
I felt satisfied that I had cracked the nut. I have used colors that are totally foreign to me and thought I arrived at series nirvana. So I cleaned up all my scraps, rolled up my fabric and cleared my table. Sigh. Then I decided to work in nuetrals.
Apparently I need to read the definition again.
Melody, I've enjoyed your post from thie retreat beyond measure! I know I gained weight from looking at the Life of Chocolate!
ReplyDeleteYou need to change the definition to neutral to suit YOU!!! Ot all looks fabulous, I wish I was there...

PS tell Stacey that her stuff is really amazing, I love the colors!
It's ALL amazing. Oh, and Mel, we will now call those "Melody Neutrals."
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful time. A friend of mine, Barbara Stroup, will be attending a workshop there in the very near future. I am so VERY jealous. The consolation is....she will have to work very hard to work off all that delicious food before we meet at Ferry Beach!!

Orange lightning coming from clouds? What am I missing? I thought those were trees.
ReplyDeleteMelody,
ReplyDeleteYour series' central block element reminds me of Sonji's bundles!
