Most of yesterday was spent doing this
and this
and it's a good thing I have a well stocked mp3 player or the brain would have turned to mush. In the other room Dave was having a late Christmas.
And then he also got these speaker stands, so now our downstairs is a regular bachelor pad, baby. Very loud, and surround soundish. So where's the dancefloor and the mirrored ball?
The mail brought me a package too, the 'awardlette' from the Husqvarna Exhibit at Houston.
And the show catalog. A bit of a disappointment because the printing is way garish. I won't even show the picture of my quilt the way it appears in the book.
Here's my version. Matchstick Moons #3. I am still waiting for the check to arrive, since it was sold at Houston in November and was supposed to arrive before the end of the year. But they didn't say which year, now did they?
Tommy has been tempting me to come for a visit this winter, and there is a super fare sale going on at American Airlines...now I just have to diet like crazy in order to fit into ANY of the stinkin' shorts in my closet.
Look out Tommy, I'm coming!
And now for today's painting experiment
I started with messing up the pristine whiteness and divided up the space with a few lines of turpentine.
Filling in the sections and adding orange lines made me disgruntled. I had to fix this so I scribbled with a wet brush
until I finally got to this 'finished'state.
Painting #2 Oil on primed Arches paper, 11x 15" ish.
Detail
Again, this is soooo different than any of my other work and for the life of me I cannot tell you why this is suddenly possible. I am having such a wonderful time LETTING GO.
I always love the cropped pictures the best.
I'm sure Dave could get a mirrored ball on ebay. Love the quilt/sweater comparison! You should have switched over to the new show Love Monkey. It was pretty good. I adore Tom Cavanagh.
ReplyDeleteLove what Kristin did - that is hysterical. Your quilting is lucious, as usual.
ReplyDeleteThe parallel shots of the sweater and your recent work are very funny -- Gee, I guess you are drawn to identifiable shapes and colors! Duh! I'm not even telling Roger about Dave's purchases, as Roger is chomping at the bit to do the home theatre thing in our teeny family room. I think you're going to have to have a christen-the-new-stereo-and-blast-out-the-neighborhood party!
