I hate to complain but...
====
I know I am safe and warm and well fed and not in any abusive miserable relationships, and have no pain, and am not broke, but...I am a little cranky.
I like my routine, and when something interferes with it the Crank appears.
My laptop plug started getting loose and not recharging my battery, so I had to send it in for repairs.
This is covered on the warranty, so no biggie, except that I have three upcoming lectures, for which my laptop is my NECESSARY EQUIPMENT. I use Power Point and my digital projector, and without a laptop, I am out of business. So having sent in the laptop and now without one, I have to blog on the desktop computer.
Ugh.
Oh, it's a beauty, with all the shiny go-fasters a gal could want, but you can't exactly take it to the couch. And one must wait one's turn to use it. Pulleezzee!
The worst part tho is that it is cold in this corner of my house and I must wear a hat and scarf or wind up with such a stiff neck that you just don't want to hear about it.
So what's a gal to do? Well I bit the bullet and ordered another laptop.
IT'S A BUSINESS EXPENSE!
Or that's what I am calling it. And really it kinda is. I mean I could go back to slides, and I am sure no one would mind watching my 2003 slide presentation. NOT!!
So I consulted with anyone I could find and then called Frieda and we sat in separate homes on the internet looking at laptops on Overstock.com. On the phone!
Frieda has helped me buy techy stuff over the years, including two cameras, and I have had peace of mind with her help. Mostly because since she helped, there would be no "I told you so" discussions if something went wrong. I know you know what I mean.
So the new laptop arrives later today, and I will be able to blog from the comfort of my couch and not be a cranky person.
Here is the kind it is.
IBM ThinkPad R40 Celeron 2.0GHz 256MB/40GB DVD/CD-RW, With 802.11B Wireless,
and it is refurbished, so who knows what it will actually be like. But really I am not complaining.
Yet.
Today I got up at 4:30 am to finish this quilt top so I could post it here. I hope my work goes well today, and that you'll check back for the grand premiere.

  4. Ohhhh you crack me up. It's 10.32 am, I just got up (still adjusting to retirement)and getting my reading fix. You did the smart thing buying another laptop. In your line of work you cannot afford to be stuck. I think the cold corner would have done it for me too. Hey refurbished is ok. Sometimes it's just a matter of a brand new item being returned after only a day or two. I will check in later to see.

  5. Thinkpads are quite reliable.. Frieda helped you make a good choice.

Here in chez Roby, we each have our own laptop. But we do not share... when mine died last year... I was on my own. So 3 hours later I had new...

So who made the one with the the loose cord?

Being the techno grandparents, we do not share either. We each have a laptop and a desktop computer. You should have gotten an Mac Ibook, really, they are so cool.
