Laptop Works! Blogger Jubilant

I am back home again and thrilled to report that it was only the memory chip that failed and all my files are INTACT. I am so relieved and have learned many valuable lessons from this experience. ( My brother is a GEEEENNN-YUS!)

While I was in California (teaching at PIQF) and waiting to hear the actual diagnosis of the laptop's problem, I was watching the hotel TV and saw many awful things that I was not experiencing, such as hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes, and wildfires.
I gained quite a perspective on my little problem in comparison. The most vivid comparison came with the Discovery Channel's program on the woman who survived a 200 pound tumor!
Really. I have nothing to complain about!

So tomorrow morning I will be at the computer center of my local mega store waiting to buy a new memory chip. All my files are backed up already and I will also purchase my new thumb drive or whatever it is called. No more sweating the loss or fear of loss of my stuff.

Let that be a lesson to us all. Word to your mother.

Now for the good stuff. I had a blast at PIQF! All my buds were there, Marjan Kluepfel was my roommate and we are like sisters, yacking away til we are hoarse. Also there were my other true buds, Priscilla Bianchi, Sue Nickels, Robbi Eklow, and our very own Artful Quilter's Ring Leader, Diane Perin Hock.

Gerrie Congdon even took my workshop, where she worked independently on her quilt-version of our fave Ton Schulten's works. I am hoping to view her finished product on her site soon. Would you believe Marjan, who also happens to be Dutch, had already heard of Ton Schulten, and has made her own quilted version of his work too! I am the last to try and it won't be soon as I have mega amounts of dyeing to do before I leave again Saturday.

Speaking of bloggers, Joan Samuelson and Junott ( Becky Tarlow) both showed up to introduce themeselves to me. Isn't that neat? We only knew each other from the blogring and now we know each other in person. Too wonderful. Joan was so kind as to bring me a goodie bag of California's best stuff, including wine, goat cheese, chocolate, breadsticks and lip balm that smells like chocolate ganache! I was good and saved the wine for the last night, and good thing I did, as it was a very, very good wine with a huge alcohol content. Luckily all I had to do today was sit on an airplane and knit. Hic.

I tried to tell Dave how great this trip was and how happy I am to have this job...it's all about the friends I have made. I am a very wealthy woman. Love to you all.
