The Meredyth Sale

Meredyth Colberg was a friend who made great fiber art and influenced me so much over the years of our friendship. She died way too young of ovarian cancer and it was such a shame to lose her and her amazing talents.

Like so many of us fiber-nuts she collected oodles of stuff. As we all know, it grows behind our backs and we'd never use it all up even if we live three lifetimes. Meredyth excelled at weaving, spinning, quilting, knitting, dyeing, garment design, and all related and overlapping skills associated with fiber. So imagine the accumulated books and notions that go along with that.

Frieda and I were tantalized by the white fabric, with the neat little sign that says dyeable. This was not your ordinary garage sale. People like us would understand why someone would have all that white fabric. And did you notice the buttons?

Just the tip of the iceberg, when it comes to beads, and lace and trims and threads...

Just the work it took to organize all this stuff is just overwhelming. It was a sight to see.

Of course we must have the mandatory blog photo. All the gals came back to my house and sat right down and gasped at our purchases.

Frieda didn't like herself in the group picture so here is her beautiful smile in her own separate picture.

Emily brought the wonderful future fiber artist Sophie and Laura is always happy to play Auntie.

Then back at Chez Johnson Sophie must strip and show off her girlish figure.

It's another battle of the dimples. Laura NEVER takes a bad picture.

Now we are all thinking about our stashes and what will become of them someday when we go poof! Lucky we have plenty of like minded girlfriends to end that speculation.
