Fig Fairway
Hand dyed cottons, fused, hand embroidered, machine quilted. 12" square.
Why Fig Fairway? I have had figs on the brain this week. I saw a fig tree in a cart at Lowe's and realized I COULD GROW FIGS HERE. OMG!!! This was an exciting prospect, but alas, that cart held the last tree. I may find another at the big nursery I will visit later today. Anyway, Figs are green and purple and so is this small work, and this series will all be named after fruit, so there is that. Add to the meaning that Dave has joined the local golf club and is playing golf almost daily.
I am having a super time making these 12" square designs. The way the fabric is dyed allows the color change to happen in this short space, which is what gives these works their look.
The first of four.
Another beauty! I really love to watch your process, it's a daily education/inspiration for me. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteLovely! And good for Dave! Gads... figs. I remember a fig tree in my Great Grandma's back yard, all gnarled and twisted... must have been there forever, but it still produced figs! Good luck on your search for one.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Love this!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I'd say Stephanie hit the jackpot!
ReplyDeleteI am having so much fun watching this unfold! And I love figs.
