Hilary P's Jacket

O I am so happy with this finished product. I used Araucania Toconao merino and Amazing by Lion Brand, about 900 yards, with a size 7 needle. The sleeves were knit in the round and the only sewing was for the side seams.
With each edition of this jacket I am tweaking the design and still loving the process, altho this is only #2. Ha!
For me, it is working with the different yarns and seeing how things change and develop.
Since I know the recipient lives in Canada, where they have real winters, I am sure this will be a very warm and cuddly addition to her wardrobe. If it were for someone in warmer climes, I might have used a larger needle, making it a lighter, looser fabric. With this design, the diamonds are kind of on the bias, providing a flattering drape. The side triangles are close under the arms and then curve out softly toward the hip.

The fit is roomy in the body but the sleeves are close fitting, as I hate bulk in the sleeve and don't want drafts up the wrist. I kept my decreases visible as I knit with slip on markers. Why has it taken me this long to do this? Who knows.

Today is the 6th anniversary of the day we moved to TN and signed the contract on this house. Where has the time gone? Wow.

  2. The sweater is beautiful! I can't believe how fast you got it done! I remember as a kid I would knit a sweater for 4-H and it would take me all summer to knit it! I have not made a sweater since.
