Bark Bark, Run, Run
Here's our new baby, What'shisname? I answered an ad for a 5 month old Pug male in Craigslist, and found him in south Nashville. No picture in the ad, and so we went to get him on faith. He was called Rocko, but really, that's not the name for this little guy. He is 1/3 the size of Chumley, but can really hold his own, chasing Chum back and forth and barking and panting and running like he owns the place. Chum will be slimming down very soon.
The safety spot is on Dave for the moment, but they take turns using him as the ref's corner.
I must say that I fell totally in love instantly and he was so good on the two hour drive home, sleeping on Dave's lap as I drove. Good thing he was well rested, as he hasn't had much time to be still since he arrived.
Chum has had six big drinks of water and they are both sharing puppy pads inside while also marking weeds outside too.
I am so glad to have him, and altho he doesn't replace Chester, he is worming his way into the family in record speed.
Isn't this the cutest pair?
Looks like Pete and RePeat doesn't it?

I'm so happy for you! We also found a rescue dog south of Nashville, to ease the pain after our beloved Collie died. It's amazing to me how much it helps. It doesn't eliminate the pain, but it sure does provide a good salve.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you as you get to know the little guy.
He is an absolute darling. We lost our cocker spaniel 6 weeks ago and I am desperate for another bit DH says he can't go through it again. I'm showing him the pics of your new addition in the hope he comes round to the idea!
ReplyDeleteMel, what a lucky dog to have landed with your pug-loving family. I wondered how Chum was getting on without Chester, but can see that while he might be still missing Chester he will be much too busy trying to corral the pip-squeak to miss him for long.
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you and Dave.
Oh I can't wait to meet him, the little darling.
ReplyDeleteIs he Charlie?
Mel, I was so heartbroken to read about Chester. My heart is already in pain over the imminent passing of my 18-yr old cat Boomer (who looks like Popeye did) from cancer. It is like losing a child. But time marches on, and if a new fur child finds its way into our hearts, it can only be good. I am so happy you have a new little guy to love! And I have to admit to being curious as to what you will name him! Hugs, Cathy
ReplyDeleteSoooo cute. I'm so happy you found him and obviously Chumley is too! He's a lucky dog!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely for you - will not replace Chester but oh How absolutely gorgeous - my daughter wants one to be brother to her pug Rocky!! Do call him Rocho he looks such a handful.
ReplyDeleteHe is adorable! Gad he found a good home with you.
ReplyDeleteHe was made for you and Chumley. What about calling him Champ? It starts with the same letters as Chester and Chumley and he is a wee champion for helping ease the pain! He looks as though he is well at home...and that Chumley loves him as much as you do. Just BTW...I am quilting my quilt that I am calling Chester...and after binding I have a few additions to make to it. It will never look as good as yours but I am reasonably happy with it...
ReplyDeleteCongrats Mel - great addition to the family. Nothing like puppy love!
ReplyDeleteSo pleased you were able to give your new pal a loving home, I'm sure you will all be a very happy family!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely addition! He is a lucky little Puggly to be able to join your family.
ReplyDeleteHow about Chase or Chewy.
ReplyDeleteHe is so cute, I will miss seeing pictures of Chester but look forward to the antics of your new family member.
Awwwwwwww--looks like puppy love. U like the name Chas or Charlie.
ReplyDeleteTo all of you who have loved and lost: I now have 4 dogs and have lost many. Dogs have shorter lives than we do so that we can have and love more of them.
ReplyDeleteAwwww, he's adorable! You can tell how spunky he is! I believe that any dog you have that passes away would want you to share your love with another. Dogs are great that way. So cute!
ReplyDeleteHe's so sweet! What a lively character he looks! Chumley is obviously being kept busy asserting his position in the household! I hope he's not a chewer? It sounds like he's house-trained? He looks bright enough to pick it up from Chum pretty quickly?
ReplyDeleteI echo everyone else. He is too cute! I am so glad you found each other!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, he is just adorable! I think he looks so goofy and mischievous. Can't wait to hear what you name him.. :-)
ReplyDeleteI am SO..SO...SO happy for you both!!! No, this little guy won't replace your lost friend..but he'll at least put a smile on your face and make you remember good times you've had with all your pets!!! I am SO happy!!!!
ReplyDeleteHe is sweet! I'm glad you fell in love and gave Chumley a new brother. They'll be lots of antics to watch now.
ReplyDeleteI'm really happy for you and for Chumley, who would miss his buddy. A puppy will give him a run for his money! :-)
ReplyDeleteI am soo happy for all of you. Losing a pet is always heartbreaking but a new pet will help heal that heartbreaking and Chester will live in your heart forever.

Hurray!
ReplyDeleteHe is so cuuute! And there will be no dull moments in your house, I bet.
ReplyDeleteHow cute! Have you decided on your name for him?
ReplyDeleteHe's perfect!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you all---he's really cute, and lucky to be in your family!
ReplyDeleteAdorable! So glad you found each other.
ReplyDeleteawww how cute is he!!!
ReplyDeleteToo cute! How did you get him to stand still long enough to get that photo? What a lively pair of new buds!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that Chumley has someone to play with...and what a little cutie he is!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you for him and you.
ReplyDeleteLook at the smile on his face! I think he knows he hit the jackpot with his new family. Looking forward to seeing lots of pics of those two...well three if you count Dave. ;)
ReplyDeleteNow he is a real looker! (what a handsome pug! - he has a great face!)
ReplyDeleteHis name fits his face and he will become your Rock!
So glad you skipped on buying a little puppy. There are so many pups that land homeless within a few month after they are bought from a breeder because people have buyers remorse and figure out they don't have time to house break the dog or spend time with it due to working and/or kids schedules, etc.
Oh what a cutie! I just love that first shot of him looking all happy and curious. Congrats to all of you for the fun addition to the family.
ReplyDeleteHe looks like a chip off the old block... how about "Chip" or "Chipper"? (He does look enthusiastic and quite chipper.)

New dog is very cute. The different is sizes has to make one wonder ---- how did Chumly get so big? from time to time my dogs will start feeling "heavy" and it is back to a little less than the exact amount stated on the food bag and low and behold in time they are lighter. Sort of wish someone would put the 1/3 cut of what ever on my plate. Can't wait to hear what bark, bark, run, run turns into name wise.....?????
ReplyDeleteI found the saying that I wanted to share with you. The author is anonymous.
ReplyDelete"It came to me that every time I lose a dog, they take a piece of my heart with them, and every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are".
Thought this was so great that I wanted to share.
Bev
He is sooooo cute! The dog. Well, your hubby, too. Congrats. Hoping this new baby fills the void.
ReplyDeleteOne of our dogs died on Thursday morning...brokenhearted.
Hi, Melody, I cried when Chester died so I am very happy to see that you and Dave and this little guy have found each other. I was also thinking Charlie...
ReplyDeleteChase? Chipper? Chiminy Cricket? You'll know his name when you hear it, and that may not be for awhile. He's adorable, and his energy level looks awe-inspiring. Chumley ought to slim down in one quick hurry if he has to keep up. Nice that you have both a righty and a lefty tail curl again.
ReplyDeleteSo adorable! I'm very happy for you. For Cathy: Even thought losing a pet is an enormous loss, please, PLEASE dont say its like "losing a child". Its NOT. Really.
ReplyDeletehappy days are here again!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy for you Melody. This new little guy is sure to put a smile on your face and ease the pain of losing Chester
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new addition. He is adorable!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, what a cutie. He's all personality! He reminds me of that old 50s /60s song...walks with personality...talks with personality....I'm so glad he found his forever home with you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a doll! Enjoy every minute!
ReplyDeleteYour new addition to the family is adorable. I'm sure he'll help Chumley have fun running around your land. I bet Chumley can't wait to introduce him to the fish pond and all the smelly places in the woods. Enjoy!
