Table For Two

I am thrilled to have the newly renovated table in our dining space. Sooooooo much better than the original. The paint is smooth as silk, having been sanded in between many coats, and I have no fear of it getting stained now. It is more fitting in style for my "Coastal Cottage" look and already have oodles of tablecloths that fit its small circumference, but for now, I just want to appreciate the glistening surface.
I love the plank construction which shows off more now that the surface has been sanded and the fillers removed. It goes with our woodwork. And the shine is just right.

We are staying in for Thanksgiving and are kinda having a two week version of the feast. Last week I found a seven pound roasting chicken, and made stuffing, cranberry sauce, and the obligatory mashed potatoes with gravy. The chicken lasted over three meals and took away the urgency to have a turkey.
I still have green beans to make into the famous casserole, and I do intend to make a big apple pie, so we can have it ala mode. I plan a holiday dish per day so no one feels stuffed.

We heard that the AMC channel is having the entire Godfather Saga on Thursday and you can be sure we'll be glued to the tube, reciting the well know dialog as it is spoken:
 Leave the gun, take the cannoli.
Fredo, you're nothing to me now.
Tom, you know you surprise me. If anything in this life is certain - if history has taught us anything - it's that you can kill anybody.
Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.
++++++++++
I do have a lot to be thankful for...I can walk up and down stairs like a normal person again, pain free. Amazing.

  2. Is it just me or have we seen several perfect tables in that spot over the last few years?

    Love the quilt above it and I'm so happy you healed so quickly!

  3. Table looks great, worth all that work. Glad you are pain free, using stairs. Last time we had a small Thanksgiving, had a "petite turkey"; 8-10 lb turkey. Most of the local butchers have them in the back, but don't advertise since they go fast.

  4. I snagged a turkey last week just a little over 8 pounds... just right for the 2 of us! And I love the table... Dave did a great job! Don't start dancing on it just yet, okay? Don't want to overdo, but do enjoy your repaired knee!
