Never Say Never

You may have read words to the effect of NO MORE PETS on this blog. Well, things change. Today we may be adopting a puppy.
It occured to me that Dave needs a project to divert his attention from driving and since we have the room in our hearts and home for a pup, now is the time.
We have been looking on Craigslist and found two pugs, which we have always had a hankering for, since that movie with Milo and Otis. We already had cast the part of the cat (yes, Popeye is still ALIVE) and have made arrangements to pick up one pug in Huntsville Alabama today. A second pug is in Chattanooga, and hopefully he will also join our family.

Dave and I have both had dogs before we met each other (centuries ago) and he is a great trainer. This will be a new adventure, for sure. Stay tuned.

I have Olive Lucy, the half blind, adopted Pug and she is THE BEST PET EVER.
You will love these clowns. Be forewarned, they are a tad hard to train. Think doggie door. Helps a lot.

  6. Dave won't have a second to even think about driving. The puppies will take care of all of that. We got dogs when hubby retired, gave him something to do besides keep track of me.....

  9. That's so great! Just imagine the little ponchos you can knit for the new buddies. That's great you are thinking of having a pair. They'll keep each other busy and entertained! Do you ever watch Cesar Millan "The Dog Whisperer" on the National Geographic channel-- I think his tips are so smart. If ever we got a dog again, we'd get his video first!!

  12. AWWWWW!!!! How cute!!!! Are you going to knit sweaters for your "babies"??? They may need them this winter :) Can't wait to see pictures of your new family members.

I remember my SIL telling me a hundred times that they wouldn't get any more pets (they inherited her mom's cat when she passed away and he is 17). Well, last March she called me up and was so excited because they had just come home with a Shih Tzu (???). She is the cutest thing ever and loves everyone!

  15. I have bred pugs for years, now just down to two ld ones.
be warned, they dont train easily, they dont think they are dogs, ours always boncecwith the cat, but they are fun.
Just dont over feed, they are energetic little dogs but they dont swim at all well, keep away from ponds.
    Have fun.

  18. My mother always said a project was the answer to every problem. A project that is entertainment and rewards one with love is just perfect.

  20. You will need a fenced yard on that busy road. Or at least a fenced area. Puppies aren't naturally smart. They will be very smart, I'm sure, when they grow up.
